~THAILAND TRIP~

5 band members and Mr.Soon went to the Thailand for the Thailand International Marching Band Competition (TIMBC) from 28th Nov to 2nd Dec 2012. We arrived airport at around 1pm. After lunch, we checked-in to the departure hall and waited for our flight. Due to some unforeseen technical error, our flight was delayed for almost 2 hours. We boarded the flight and departed airport at around 7pm. After 2 hours of flying, we successfully touched down Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok, Thailand.

After getting our luggage, we took a shutter bus to go meet with other participants of TIMBC. After that, we took a bus ride of approximately 10 hours to Ubon Ratchatani, a north-east state of Thailand. Our bus arrived at the hotel the next morning. After settling the accommodation, we went to the welcome dinner the same day evening. We were glad to be able to interact with other band members over the dinner.

Second day after breakfast, we got to observe and learned from other bands form their rehearsal. Third day, we went to the Cultural Center of Ubon Ratchathani Rajabhat University to watch the Individual &Ensemble Competition. This event includes snare solo, tenor solo, marimba, bass drum ensemble and brass ensemble. After this event was the street parade. There were almost 60 bands took part in this parade and all the band were needed to march on the street for about 2km and performed their formation in front of the judges. We too took part with our BB uniforms! On the last day, we went to the Cultural Center again to watch the concert band competition, followed by drum battle and marching band finale at Ubon Ratchathani Spot School Stadium. The awards presentation was on the same night as well.
